Mehiläinen as a corporate tax payer in Finland
28.9.2012
According to research conducted by Balance Consulting in August 2012, Mehiläinen paid the most corporate tax of any health care company in Finland between 2006–2011. The report is based on financial statements published by 11 Finnish companies in the field. The report covers corporate tax paid by companies and does not include value added tax, for example.
In 2006–2010, Mehiläinen paid EUR 14.0 million in corporate tax to Finland and, in addition, net profits totalling up to 30 million euro from earlier financial periods remained in the company to be used to expanding and widen its operations. No profits were transferred to the owners and no dividends were distributed.
Mehiläinen has not paid any group contributions abroad or transferred its profits to tax havens. The owners of Ambea, Mehiläinen's parent company, reacted to public discussion and modified the company's financial structure in spring 2012. This will further increase the amount of corporate tax paid to Finland by Mehiläinen in the future and will already have an effect on the current financial year extending from 1 January to 31 December 2012, if business operations develop as expected.
