The development of digital services meets our customers’ needs and is a key part of our operations
At Mehiläinen, the development of digital services has been a key part of our operations for 20 years. In addition to digital channels, we focus on operating models and processes so that digital capabilities lead to more cost-effective and high-quality care.
Based on our customer surveys, feedback and everyday encounters, we have understood that our customers’ habits have changed significantly over the past five years. Smoothness, clarity, flexibility and immediacy characterise the changes in expectations. As an occupational health service provider, Mehiläinen must be able to meet the expectations of customer companies and employees while also maintaining high quality services and focusing on the needs and goals of our corporate customers.
With this understanding, we created the Digital Clinic Occupational Health Care Centre, which has grown to become the largest occupational health clinic in Finland during its two years of operation. The Digital Clinic Occupational Health Care Centre enables one clear and fast service channel for our customers’ employees, regardless of the need. The last two years have clearly shown that the service meets the changed customer preferences and needs.
Smooth, timely treatment and guiding the customer to a suitable specialist create savings
It is often difficult for employees to determine whether their illness or concern requires an appointment and, if so, who would be the right specialist, whether a referral is needed or whether the matter could be handled remotely. This results in unnecessary appointments and, consequently, unnecessary costs for employers. In addition to costs, multiple different options and service channels create uncertainty and, at worst, can lead to delayed start of treatment and a feeling of being bounced around from one professional to another.
In terms of work ability, the most important thing is to get help and advice as quickly as possible to allow the healing process to start. You can contact the Digital Clinic Occupational Health Care Centre regarding any health-related question, and you can discuss the matter with the most suitable specialist at any time. Most health-related matters and concerns can already be taken care of remotely, and the treatment process in almost all cases can be started by giving home care instructions and guiding the employee to further treatment and examinations.
The Digital Clinic Occupational Health Care Centre enables the following for companies and employees:
Smooth and fast service, regardless of time and place
Occupational health physicians, occupational health nurses and occupational physiotherapists on an on-call basis
A free well-being survey that refers the employee directly to the most appropriate specialist, streamlining access to treatment
Cost-effective and timely service to avoid unnecessary appointments and having to move around unnecessarily when ill
A smooth referral to an appointment at a suitable location or other examinations, if necessary
In 2023, already 38.3% of occupational health care appointments have taken place at the Digital Clinic. Occupational health physicians, occupational health nurses and occupational physiotherapists are available at the Digital Clinic Occupational Health Care Centre every day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. In addition, general practitioners and nurses are available on a needs-basis, and customer service is open every day of the year, 24/7.
With a comprehensive team of specialists and a free-of-charge well-being survey, employees are able to receive treatment and advice for their health concerns, regardless of time and place. When combined with timely treatment, cost savings are achieved in terms of travel, working time and sickness-related absence costs.
