Mehiläinen and HeiaHeia have been engaged in long-term co-operation in which Mehiläinen's experts' high-quality digital content packages are brought seamlessly to the HeiaHeia for Workplaces service of Mehiläinen's occupational health care services customers.
HeiaHeia is a software company whose digital HeiaHeia for Workplaces service has helped hundreds of work communities of different sizes effectively support the healthy lifestyle and team spirit of their staff in dozens of countries.
Effectiveness through digitalisation
The service has proved both necessary and popular, as increasing remote working has accelerated the digitalisation of the promotion of well-being at work. The growing role of technology is one of the strongest trends in change in well-being services.
HeiaHeia recently conducted a survey of HR decision-makers on the subject in cooperation with Aalto University's Department of Industrial Economics. According to the study, remote working places new demands on well-being at work by reducing the sense of community created by daily encounters, which is a significant part of our well-being. Employers, therefore, have clear expectations for modern well-being solutions. The study highlighted, among other things, the easy availability of the service equally for all employees and the ability to respond to individual well-being challenges and needs. In this new environment, the solution produced by Mehiläinen and HeiaHeia provides an effective way to promote the well-being of individuals through communal means.

Arla moved actively with HeiaHeia in 2021
Several companies from different industries have adopted the service package with good results. One of these customers is Arla, where impressive work is being done to support the well-being and community of the personnel.
In January 2021, Arla launched an activity challenge, which aimed to reach the Moon by moving 380,000 kilometres. More than 200 Arla employees went along with the challenge and accumulated kilometres by running, walking, skiing, cycling and other forms of movement. The participants used the HeiaHeia sports app to record their exercise performance and to track the kilometre target, and also encourage colleagues.
-Up to 17,000 kilometres of exercise were accumulated per week, and we achieved our goal in October. We will continue to support our staff's physical activity as it promotes well-being at work. HeiaHeia complements the cooperation with Mehiläinen, which provides occupational health care services to Arla, says Tiia Lappalainen, who is responsible for work ability issues at Arla.
The app also inspires users: thousands of users have rated the renewed HeiaHeia app as worth over 4.4 stars in app stores. More than a thousand reports on successful lifestyle changes were received in the latest user survey.
-Since I changed to working remotely at home, I have used the programs found in HeiaHeia for work ergonomics. For example, I recently had problems with my ‘mouse hand’, but I was able to counteract the mouse arm syndrome with Mehiläinen's “prevent mouse hand” programme,” says one of the users of the HeiaHeia service.
-Mehiläinen also has HeiaHeia in use, and it has proved to be a very fun way to activate employees, for example through playful competition, says Heljä Pyyhtiä.
