Supervisor Sparring
Supervisory work is one of the key factors affecting the well-being of employees. Functional supervisory work is critical for the entire company, as it increases employee engagement and occupational well-being, thus reducing turnover and improving productivity.
- Pioneering companies have succeeded in reducing the cost of work left undone by 38% through successful management of work ability (source: The 2015 annual review of work left undone).
- According to a 2019 estimate by Varma, the Finnish society could achieve savings of EUR 1.5 billion by improving occupational well-being.
- However, according to a 2019 study on living at work, only 52% of employees say that they have had a conversation with their supervisor regarding their well-being and coping.
Easy support for supervisors whenever needed
It is important that supervisors receive support for their own work and with any challenges related to it. Supervisor sparring can be used throughout the company if there is a need to provide supervisors with low-threshold support whenever they need it. In supervisor sparring, the supervisors have the opportunity to structure their own role as supervisors, as well as to grow and develop in that role. The service also provides support in a variety of challenging situations that supervisors may face, such as:
- internal conflicts in the team
- the team’s or a team members challenges with coping
- change processes
- intervening in inappropriate behaviour
- growing as a supervisor
- working on areas of development
When the company has started using the service, the supervisor can utilise it without a referral. All discussions in the meetings are confidential and are not recorded in the supervisor's patient records.
The service is provided by our occupational psychologists, whose knowledge of our customer companies and their working conditions is unique. Additionally, they have strong competence and understanding of the requirements and different situations of supervisory work.
Contact your company's occupational health contact person or your designated occupational health team's psychologist for more information about the service.
