Mehiläinen’s rapid growth in Sweden continues

Mehiläinen’s operations in Sweden started in 2020. Meliva’s main focus in the Swedish market is on publicly-funded primary healthcare, child health clinic services and outpatient services in specialised healthcare. During the year 2023, the company's service network expanded by six new units through acquisitions and new establishments in the greater Stockholm, Uppsala, and Gothenburg areas. Meliva aims to become a national operator through expansion.

- Meliva mainly offers publicly-funded services based on patients’ freedom of choice at 28 healthcare centres with more than 140,000 listed customers. Meliva is now the fourth largest private provider of primary healthcare services in Stockholm. The company has also three specialised healthcare units. Patients have extensive freedom of choice in public healthcare in Sweden, but voluntary health insurance policies are also increasing, says Markku Näreneva, Managing Director, Public Healthcare at Mehiläinen..

We want to gain a significant foothold in the Swedish primary healthcare, specialised healthcare and occupational healthcare markets. Meliva’s expansion continues through acquisitions and organic growth. The company also plans to expand into other specialised healthcare segments, dental care, and the insurance and private customer markets. Organic growth is driven by digital services.
