The acquisition has received official approval from the authorities and has been successfully completed. This marks a significant milestone in expanding high-quality healthcare services across the Baltic region.
Mehiläinen Group completed the acquisition of InMedica Group, the largest private healthcare provider in Lithuania, on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. The acquisition was announced on January 9, 2025. With this acquisition, InMedica Group officially joins the Mehiläinen Group, bringing new opportunities for Lithuanian patients, medical professionals, and the healthcare system. The integration process will be carried out gradually, ensuring a seamless transition while maintaining the highest standards of care and continuity of service.
New digital healthcare services for Lithuanians
Mehiläinen is a pioneer in digital healthcare. Mehiläinen’s healthcare app has more than 2 million registered users in Finland, and its digital solutions are available in 11 different countries, serving both private and public healthcare sectors. This expertise will soon enhance accessibility and convenience for Lithuanian patients with the launch of a new digital clinic and mobile app by the end of May.
– By launching the digital clinic and mobile app in Lithuania, we are making high-quality healthcare more accessible across the country. Patients will have instant access to family doctors via chat, from early morning to late night, including weekends and public holidays - reducing waiting times and making it easy to get help without leaving the comfort of their own home, says Andreas Taalas, Mehiläinen Business Line Director for the Baltic region.
The mobile app will offer an intuitive booking system, digital clinic, doctor referrals, and seamless access to medical records, prescriptions, and test results.
Investments in Lithuania’s Healthcare
With over 115 years of experience in healthcare, Mehiläinen brings Scandinavian expertise to Lithuania, driving long-term investments in medical services and professional development to ensure that both patients and medical professionals benefit from the acquisition.
– InMedica will expand rehabilitation services with a new rehabilitation centre opening in June in Vilnius, integrating comprehensive rehabilitation services and post-orthopaedic surgery care to ensure a seamless transition from surgery to recovery. Meanwhile, new MRI diagnostic centres in Mažeikiai and Marijampolė will enhance access to advanced imaging diagnostics beyond Lithuania’s largest cities, bringing high-quality services closer to patients, comments InMedica Group CEO, Kęstutis Broniukaitis.
– Our priority is to improve access to high-quality care in Lithuania through digital innovations and the expansion of essential services to more regions, ensuring that patients receive the best possible care wherever they are, Andreas Taalas continues.
With Mehiläinen’s expertise, InMedica will continue to grow and enhance healthcare across Lithuania, ensuring patients receive modern, high-quality care digitally and in person. The acquisition strengthens Mehiläinen’s position in the Baltic region and makes Mehiläinen the largest private healthcare provider in the Baltic countries.
InMedica Group was previously owned by the leading private equity fund in the Baltic region, INVL Baltic Sea Growth Fund, the private healthcare services and pharmaceutical manufacturing group AB City, and the private company Litgaja, controlled by InMedica's founder and CEO, Kęstutis Broniukaitis.
