Superior’s Compass to support SAMK’s organisational change
Significant reduction in long-term sickness-related absences and confidence for managerial work
Located on the west coast of Finland, Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (SAMK) is an educational institution with about 500 employees and 7,000 students. SAMK invests in the well-being of its employees and also genuinely wants to support their work ability. SAMK implemented a major organisational change that strengthened its supervisor and executive structure. The aim of the change was to promote the organisation ’s capabilities in the management of work ability by investing in managerial work.
SAMK introduced the Superior’s Compass in order to support its supervisors. The Superior’s Compass plays a key role in SAMK's goal of focusing on early intervention.
“After introducing the Compass tools, long-term sickness-related absences have significantly reduced,” says Jari Lahti, Head of Human Resources at SAMK.
" The Compass tool has enabled early intervention and a close connection with the employees. It acts as a great support and framework, which is its most important task," says Saara Jäntti, HRD Manager at SAMK.
