The purpose of the consultation is to identify a possible need for treatment. The necessary measures are taken at a separate visit to the dental hygienist or dentist before whitening.

Frequently asked questions
The result of whitening is unique to each individual and cannot be accurately predicted. In general, however, the difference is significant when compared to the previous situation.
After whitening, you should avoid tooth-colouring foods and nicotine products for a couple of days to ensure that the final result of the whitening is as desirable and long-lasting as possible.
To some extent, whitening toothpastes can remove superficial stains on the tooth. The mechanism of action of these toothpastes is enzymatic or mechanical. Mechanical stain removers abrade the surface of the tooth, wearing it down, and, thus, long-term use can damage the tooth enamel.
If the tooth enamel has thinned considerably, for example due to erosion, and the yellowish bone is exposed, whitening may not be possible. Other options for aesthetic dental treatment can then be considered.
Tooth whitening is not recommended for pregnant women. Whitening agents used by professionals have been proven to be safe, but not all of their effects on the foetus have been studied.
Teeth whitening is not recommended for children under the age of 18, as the development of the teeth may still be in progress.
